Jesús Villa was born in Mexico but grew up in southeastern Wisconsin. The son of a Mexican father and an American mother, his home was always filled with music growing up - orchestral music, Mexican rancheras, radio pop, and classic albums by songwriters like Paul Simon, Neil Diamond, and John Denver. Jesús began playing guitar at age 10, and by high school was playing in bands and writing his own music. He has since continued to perform professionally, and has written and composed several musical theater productions.
Jesús currently performs with the Front Porch Rockers. He is a founding member of the Sticks and Stones songwriting collective. In early 2018 he established Dad's Red Chair Music to publish, distribute, and promote his songs for licensing.

Dad's Red Chair Music is Jesús Villa's publishing company. As Jesús tells it, "When my first wife moved out and I had to replace half the furniture, the first thing I bought was a red recliner. I had always wanted one, but it never fit in with the rest of the house. Now I could have one. It still didn't really fit in, but it was mine, and it brought me joy and stress relief on crazy days. My music plays a similar role in my life".
